FAQ Q: The Ioway people are not "lost." Why did you choose the title "Lost Nation: The Ioway"? A: The physical nation once under the control of the Ioway (about 60,000 square miles of the Midwest) was lost by the tribe when they were relocated by the Federal government. In addition, many aspects of Ioway culture, including their language, have been lost or are in danger of being lost. Q: Does the documentary focus on the murder of White Cloud? A: No. The murder of White Cloud is just one
aspect of the story. It's important because it dramatically illustrates the
difficult decisions the Ioway faced. To cooperate with the U.S. Government may have
allowed the Ioway people to survive, but some tribal members felt White Cloud had betrayed
his own people.
